Yes, completely. There's no cost to join any LA People Club group. Your number stays private, the chat stays spam-free, and we never run ads inside the groups.

Can I join more than one group?

Plenty of members are in three or four at once. A hiker who also loves the beach and just moved to town might be in New to LA, Hiking Trails, and Beach & Fitness simultaneously - nobody's going to stop you.

What's the group size? Won't it be spammy?

We cap every group around 250 people and someone actually moderates it. Promo links, crypto pitches, and off-topic noise get deleted and the poster gets a warning. This stays a place members want to check, not one they mute.

I just moved and don't know anyone yet. Worth joining?

WhatsApp is simply the fastest way we've found to get you connected in LA - most members already have it for travel anyway. If it's genuinely not an option, use the contact page and we'll sort out another way to reach you.

Are these groups safe? Vetted?

New members send a short intro first - a photo, first name, hometown, and the group they want - before anyone gets an invite link. Anyone flagged for scamming or harassment is removed immediately. This runs like a group of friends vetting a friend-of-a-friend, not a listings site.

A handful of long-term Angelenos and travellers keep LA People Club running, all convinced nobody should have to figure this city out solo. It started as one casual WhatsApp group back in 2021 — today we moderate ten. This is a passion project, not a business.
